Village Fete
Saturday 5th July 2008
WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT 5TH JULY
It’s Fete day, and also the date that the first Fete was held, that’s what’s special. We have been working very hard on your behalf, we being my team of Anita Bryant, John Higgs, Dee Holden, Lara Lay, Dorothy Selvey, Phil Spice and Anton Vamplew without all these wonderful people your fete would never have got off the ground, and I thank every one of them.
So what have we got that’s new for you this year? Our thanks must go to Mr Tom Shields as we are using both sides of The Green for the first time so we have more space to fill, and fill it we have. There’s a 35 piece brass band to entertain you, there will be a three sided Bungee Trampoline with a 24ft rock climbing wall, a 20ft slide that has recently been at London Zoo (no not for the animals) which is suitable for adults and children, get a photo of me up their and there could well be a prize. We have got an Open the Box competition, Air Hockey and a giant Jenga and chess set for the children. Saving the best for last we hope to have a miniature Kent Trams system for you to get all nostalgic over remembering your childhood.
Come and meet Captain Cosmos as heard on The Pat Marsh show on Radio Kent, ask him your scientific questions about the sky, ……
There will be lots more new and exciting stalls with a local lady who designs beautiful handmade jewellery and a lady coming all the way from Cape Town bringing African jewellery, also a stall with all the information you might need on Eco friendly nappies and children’s goods and household equipment.
We hope the bric-a-brac will be up to our usual standard of excellence thanks to all your contributions, (sorry but no electrical goods) as will the books and toy stalls. The Bottle stall and the Find the Bottle will be back and all these popular stalls are in new positions for you to browse, and the raffle has some very exciting prizes this year.
Of course the BBQ, Tea Tent and Pimms Tent will be there and the quality of food and drink will be first class and as always there will be service with a smile at all our stands.
Don’t forget our Garden on a Plate (standard dinner size) for the under 8’s and a Garden in a Seed Tray for the 8’s and over.
Also our Cake Decorating competition for all ages. Please bring all your entries to The Green no later than 10am on the day and collect your prizes at the end, and last but not least the Fun Dog Show entry forms from me
