TEARS TANTRUMS AND TRIUMPHS
To many of you the Fete is a good day out with lots to see and do, somewhere to relax in the sunshine with friends old and new, enjoying the atmosphere knowing you can let the children wonder around and they are safe to enjoy themselves without Mum and Dad standing over them, sharing a glass of Pimms, a beer, the Bar-B-Q, tea and cakes and all the attractions in the arena. The extra 150 people who came this year were most welcome and we hope to see many more of you next year. I think there was something for everyone, young and not so young. The dog show was even better than last year and the children of Langton Green School were very entertaining as everyone wanted to see their dance again. There were more entries in the fancy dress show and didn’t the announcers do a good job? Well done to the Hare with the Tug of War, I think honor was at stake after last year’s defeat. Chris Little and his staff at The Hare have my thanks for all they provided. Without their help the Fete would not have electricity, water, onions sliced and cooked, storage in the cold room for cakes and burgers, prizes for the raffle, the list is endless, So did it matter that the Marquee people let us down and did not provide us with all the right equipment, the equipment hire people were late in their delivery, the order for the burger buns and hot dog rolls was lost (we raided Tesco’s and Sainsbury’s), the ice cream man didn’t come, we hope his daughter is getting better. No, none of this mattered because of the wonderful team I have and the fantastic helpers who all pulled together to make the day work. If I named names their would be too many to mention and you know who you all are and I thank everyone of you from the bottom of my heart for all your efforts. We were all still working as the Fete opened but I don’t think anyone noticed. As I walked around looking at all the people enjoying themselves I thought this is what it is all about, happy smiling faces, children running around, everyone having fun enjoying the day. Would we do it all again? YES,
YOU BET WE WOULD, see you all next year.
