LATEST NEWS

  • The Rural Society held its annual AGM at the Primary School on Thursday May 3rd instead of the normal first Tuesday of the month.  This was because our speaker, Greg Clark MP could only make a Thursday, however when he agreed to speak last year we were not sure that he realised it was to be local election night.  Anyway he spoke to a good gathering of about 80 people about infilling - a subject close to many people's heart. After his talk and questions session he dashed off to other engagements which included reporting on the election results for Radio 4 between 2am and 4am next morning!  We were very pleased to see two Borough Councillors, Jennie Paulson-Ellis and David Jukes, and some representatives from the Parish Council including the Chairman David Crundwell, Richard Wheeler and Ron Ellis.  The Chairman reported on the business of the Society and presented flowers to Jennifer Johnston who had left the committee in December and an Amenity Award to the outgoing Secretary Chris May for his work over the past 13 years.  Some pictures are below.
