Village Hall - Latest News
As at 30th November 2007
Friday the 16th November was a momentous day in the history of Langton Green; after over 100 years the
Village had a new Hall. Built on time and within budget by Epps Construction, the formal opening was made by
our Member of Parliament, Greg Clark in the presence of the Mayor, Councillor Barbara Cobbold and
representatives of all the organisations that had contributed to the build or which will derive so much benefit
from the new facilities. In thanking everyone present, Roger Mallett said how difficult and invidious it was to
pick-out any particular individuals: three however came readily to mind – Edmund Byrne the architect,
David Crundwell, Chairman Speldhurst Parish Council who had been so supportive and John Wilshire the Epps
site manager ( to whom a private presentation was made later). From midday until early evening the Hall was
“on parade” for the villagers and what a joy it was for the Trustees to welcome so many people and to hear so
many congratulatory remarks – it did our hearts good!. The following Monday saw the Hall start its new life and
we all wish it well, success and much activity.
